Our lessons focus on three to four works of art and create accessible, dynamic, and personal experiences for your students with MoMA’s collection.
Discussion
We believe dialogue and exchange are powerful and memorable ways to experience works of art. Group conversations about objects around a central theme are core components of our lessons. Your students will be encouraged to share their thoughts in a welcoming atmosphere that supports and challenges them to make connections between objects, ideas, and their own experiences. They'll learn from us, but they'll also learn from each other.
Activities
We understand students respond in myriad ways to different ideas, people, and situations. As part of our lessons, we offer multiple ways to experience the Museum and explore artworks. Drawing, writing, movement, and small group work are some essential lesson strategies that appeal to different learners. Our goal is to provide intriguing and accessible points of entry for all of your students.
Curriculum connections
We want our lessons to have relevance for you and your students. We embrace the fact that every class is different and respect the role Museum lessons play within K–12 education. Like you, we want your experience here to be significant, invigorating, and productive. As much as possible, we incorporate what you tell us about your curriculum needs and students’ experience into our lesson plans.
